Dr. Welk came by this morning and said that surgery had gone really well. He was jazzed and even gave me the physician-patented foot squeeze on his way out.
I have transitioned from I.V. to oral pain meds and two hours later, I am feeling comfortable is the hospital bed.
I walked a lap around the ward. I was pretty tired by the end but it was good to get up and around.
Heather, the nurse even gave me an ice pack for my hotflashes. Sweet!
There’s a possibility that I will go home tonight. I hope I will be well enough to do so because it’s hard to rest at the hospital.
Sounds like you’re doing really well and if you can go home and get some rest, that’ll be even better!
Great news! We were planning to come visit you around 7 tonight. If John would give us a call and let us know if you are going home tonight. If so, we’ll postpone our visit.
Love the foot squeeze!
Knew you would!
Good bedside manners always helps!
Yes they do. It’s important to feel well cared for when we’re feeling at our most vulnerable.
Heather is wonderful! I am so glad you are in great “hands”!!! Just relieved it’s over, E!!!! Take it real easy, for sure and make your Honey keep all of the wound incision & drain sites oober-clean!!! (how sexy!). Oh – drink TONS of water with the pain meds…and ask your naturopath about taking psyllium for good digestion/keepin’ things movin’ while you are convalescing (psyllium is really good for your heart and is just a pure fiber plant!). I take 3 per day and when I was taking pain meds or not moving much, I took 3 two times per day (6 total). Okay…..I know….more than you ever wanted to know here!!!! CLOSE YOUR EYES AND BREATHE – we are all done!
Heather is wonderful. I don’t think I mentioned that she was my nurse today. This tells me that you have been at Swedish spa so frequently that you know who is on shift which day! I showed Penny the picture of the two of you that you sent to me. She was quite pleased to see it. She gave me a hug on my way to surgery. Nurses are such special people!
Great news! All the best!
Thanks, Joanna!
So happy that all went well and that you’re already doing laps. (Did you track that trek on your app?) And it’s SO great that you get to go home and settle in for some serious healing time.
Yes I did my lap and also walked to the car because I got sick of waiting for the wheelchair. I also knew that this would save me from getting in and out of a wheelchair. Getting in and out of chairs is challenging. I did think about my app! I was only two miles from logging 300 miles before the surgery! Now it will take me weeks to get there. But I will be patient plus the tightness and pain in my abdomen keeps me from being dumb.
All these months of waiting and blogging until this day is finally here!! Can you believe it? Congrats to you!
Thanks and yes, so glad to be past the surgery day and on to healing!
