I’ve discovered another way of getting my naturopath recommended 2 tablespoons of flax seed meal each day. It’s so simple. I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of it sooner. I combined one heaping tablespoon of peanut butter with two tablespoons of flax seed meal. I spread this mixture on two apple halves.
Although the flaxseeds change the texture of the peanut butter, it’s still pretty tasty.
Forgive my ignorance..but why flax seed? Nutrtional needs or personal taste? Either way..everything goes better with peanut butter!
The flax is intended for breast cancer prevention. 2 tablespoons is a lot so I am often looking for ways to prepare it.
Ah Ha! Thanks for the info!
Sounds rather strange!!!! šššš
Putting peanut butter on an apple is a popular snack in the U.S. I realize now that peanut butter is not the staple in many other countries as it is here. Or perhaps it’s just the inclusion of flaxseed that sounds strange.
No the strange thing is putting it on an apple!!! I had never heard of that .. My husband loves peanut butter so will have to suggest that snack to him.
Ah, the peanut/apple combination. Try it out, you might love it.
We Americans put peanut butter on everything. My kids love it on bananas, apples, celery. It’s been such a staple in America for decades that kids are apparently coming down with allergies to it right & left. From my generation that took peanut butter & jelly sandwiches every day to school for lunch (pb & j’s) to my daughter’s generation where peanut butter or any nuts in schools is verboten. Some schools around here even have “peanut butter” tables where kids with peanut butter or nut in their lunches can eat at to segregate them from kids with allergies.
Clever way to get your flax…mixing it with peanut butter! Cashew butter is really good, too.
Will ground flaxseed give you the same benefits? It is much easier to use. I like the apple idea. If you are allergic to peanuts, almond butter would work.
