I am pleased to announce that after seven acupuncture treatments, I am fairly convinced that it significantly reduced my menopause symptoms, even if I can’t prove it scientifically. (I will leave that task to the integrative medicine researchers.) Other improvements, increased energy, improved concentration, and improved mood are a bit harder to link to the acupuncture since there are a number of possible confounding variables such as healing after surgery, the impact of my daily exercise and healthy diet, the impact of my psychotherapy sessions, and the impact of my mindfulness exercises. It is possible that none or all of these factors are contributing to my improved health.
So, I am giving acupuncture the thumbs up. You might give it a try. The following blog might be helpful, Weekly Cup of Qi.
The how or why does not matter .. The fact you are feeling better is what is important… As you say maybe a mix of everything..
Yes, that is the advantage of being a tainted test tube. I don’t have to explain why I feel better, I just get to enjoy it!
I only tried acupuncture once..to give up smoking! After the session, I went out and grabbed a cigarette. Sigh…but I do know of people who have benefited greatly from this age-old medicinal treatment.
Addiction, so hard to treat. I’m so sorry. Keep trying. One of the best things about life is that each day brings a new opportunity.
Sounds good to me.

I have quite a few ladies in my clinic who use acupuncture to help with their menopausal symptoms while on Tamoxifen (in particular) and they all swear by it. Glad you have been able to have some releif with your multi-modality approach.
Thank you!
I am so glad it helped!! š I have a friend who is an acupuncturist and she did a few treatments during chemo to help with my nausea (it didn’t, but it was a great stress reliever!). I never considered it for menopausal symptoms, but after reading your post, I may have to go back. Thank you for sharing your experience!
Yes, give it a try! I can’t imagine having menopause symptoms on top of raising young children and getting cancer treatment. It’s hard enough for me as a 47 year-old lady with a teen girl. I also found that taking a dropper of black cohosh tincture, once in the morning and once in the evening helped a little. If you are interested, I got mine on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Botanic-Choice-Liquid-Extract-1-Fluid/dp/B004RME6H0/ref=sr_1_3?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1369684077&sr=1-3&keywords=black+cohosh
The one above is alcohol free and tastes a bit of molasses. I made the mistake of buying some other tincture at the local Super Supplements and it was full of some type of alcohol. It tasted so nasty I couldn’t believe it.
I’m sure it isn’t easy going through menopause with a teenage girl either! Two of my sisters were teens when my mom was going through menopause and I’m surprised the 3 of them narrowly escaped the menopause/puberty years together! Lol! š
Thanks, I will have to check the black cohosh tincture out. I’m glad you have found some things that work for you, even if just a little. Thank you for sharing! š
You’re welcome. š
