‘Cause there’s no Bandaids stuck on me!
Not surprisingly, breast cancer treatment requires bandages. Not a huge number at any one time, but it seems like there’s always a faithful bandaid or piece of gauze some where on my body from surgery, a blood draw, or a shot. Today I’m pleased to announce that I have been bandage free for three whole days! My skin, it’s intact!
Yay!
Great news!
Three days, bandage free! Something of a milestone while undergoing treatment. Well Done Elizabeth, I hope your skin gets many more opportunities to recover from being punctured! Best Wishes. Chris (@Chris_Jones49)
Thanks, Chris, a.k.a. “Tracy’s Dad”! Welcome to the comments section of my blog. I am going to make the best of my intact skin between now and my next blood draw/injection duo in January. Your daughter is really someone special by the way, but I don’t need to tell you that!
My Dad’s pretty cool – am I allowed to say that aged 43? Who knows. I’m not usually one for the green eyed monster but I confess I’m a little teeny tiny weeny bit envious of your bandage free skin Elizabeth. The state my hands and arms are in after the last couple weeks is a sight to behold but that said I want you to stay bandage, bandaid, gauze and tape free for a very long time andreading your post also made me very happy this evening. Emotions…. why are they so confusing?!
Mixed feelings are natural. Maybe a couple of months after my surgery, we will be synched in respect to skin integrity and we can celebrate together!
I’ll be on that road to further surgeries with you next year. We can celebrate getting re-plastered and unbandaged as we go along. Hopefully by Fall, everything will be intact, puncture free and a picture of loveliness for us both 🙂
Oh boo! I’m sorry to hear that, Tracy. The fall is probably more realistic for me, too since as soon as I posted my last reply to you I realized that I’m likely to have another surgery after my TRAM. In the meantime, we’ll take it one step at a time and focus on those thousands of feet that we’ve climbed up our respective cancer treatment mountains.
Yea!
